Guide to San Lorenzo

'This sleepy village offers up peace and quiet in abundance – ideal if you're looking for an away-from-it-all holiday.'

The ancient Moorish hamlet of San Lorenzo is about as far away from the Ibiza stereotype as you can get. You won't find busy beaches or crowded clubs here. In fact, you won't find very much at all – and that's just the appeal. Tucked away on a wooded hillside, it sits among olive groves and almond trees. Its star attraction is an 18th-century church with twin watch towers. From its hilltop perch, it surveys the entire village. But San Lorenzo has another string to its bow – Can Pere Mosson Country Park. With its nature trails and fantastic views, this is one of Ibiza's best-kept secrets. It's the kind of place made for lazy picnics in the sun, with your only company likely to be the birds swooping overhead. The pace of the village picks up come nightfall – but only a little. There are a handful of bars and a few good restaurants to choose from. Or, if you fancy something a bit more lively, the iconic resorts of San Antonio and Ibiza Town are only a short drive away.
