'With fast-living San Antonio just a whisper away, pretty Port des Torrent is a great place to spread your towel and relax in the sun.'
Fancy dipping your toes into chill-out town? Yes? Then this picturesque resort in San Antonio Bay is just your cup of tea. Just west of Ibiza's party hotspot, the vibe here is quiet and mellow – perfect for snoozing off the night before or wallowing in a brilliantly simple beach holiday. Centred round a lovely horseshoe-shaped bay, there's everything here you need to relax and enjoy some quality time with the kids. Overlooking a long, sheltered inlet of shallow, child-friendly sea, you'll always find space on the popular beach to station yourself on the white, cushiony sands. From there, just lie back and let the sun bring you back to life. Trying your hand at jet skiing or windsurfing should the urge take you. Or, if you've got an adventurous streak, book a scuba lesson or underwater trip courtesy of the local diving school. And when your enthusiasm for all things watery dries up, stroll around Port's unpretentious centre, where a medley of restaurants and shops will keep you well provided for. You'll also find a variety of music bars - perfect standbys for when San Antonio seems too much. Days out? You can be fairly picky. Take a boat to bustling Ibiza Town or San Antonio for its waterpark, go-karting and countless entertainments. Or escape into the local nature reserve or nearby picture-postcard coves. When night falls, ride a bus or disco boat to San Antonio. Probably the Med's coolest nighttime venue, its West End districts brims with mind-blowing clubs, big-name DJs and a high-livin' groove that'll carry you till dawn and beyond.

With an extensive choice of restaurants, tavernas, pizzerias and tapas bars you can have a different dining experience every night in Ibiza. Pitiusan or Ibicencan cuisine is relatively simple - dinner might be a piece of grilled fresh fish or meat with a portion of seasonal vegetables and potatoes or perhaps a country stew. If you fancy a little more variety, a selection of local tapas are both flavoursome and filling. The island produces its own red wine, which is definitely worth trying, as is the sangria.
Ibiza is famous for its discos, which are concentrated in the major towns. Spend your evenings in Port des Torrent sipping a drink in one of the traditional tavernas, or take the bus to nearby San Antonio Bay for a more vibrant atmosphere.
Head to Ibiza Town's La Marina quarter for a unique shopping extravaganza. This area is the heartland of Ibiza's Ad Lib style - a bohemian fashion that originated in the 1960s when hippies came to live on the island. To make money they used to set up stalls at markets where they would sell their own work. This tradition has survived and today there are many markets on the island, the most prominent held on Wednesdays in Es Cana, where you can meander through colourful stalls and buy wonderful trinkets for you and your home.
Add a historical dimension to your holiday in Ibiza with a trip to Ibiza Town, the centre of which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The castle, cathedral and even the walls, are signs of its rich past. Situated near this district are the harbour and marina, where you can enjoy a cafe con leche and rest your weary limbs after an afternoon sightseeing.
